The old Gineyea 73x127.5mm Bottom Bracket from China was removed and replaced with a Shimano BB-UN300 73x118mm

It has me wondering though… The bike was a stock Ride1Up 700 Series refresh from 2022, so it was after they had known about the chain drop issue that was present before my upgrades, and others did complain of it, so why did they have such an insanely large spindle size? Most of the shimano brackets largest size for the 73mm fitment is 122.5 and this was an extra 5mm on that. I shaved 9 1/2mm off of the distance between the chainring and seat, and admittedly it’s a little snug to the frame now (yet still with plenty of clearance) but why didn’t they use a more standard sized bracket?

Maybe I should see if I can ask the technical support team, but I dunno how much information they will have… it certainly seems like they could’ve used a standard bracket and not had such an extreme chainline on this thing and had a more reliable and safe bike for their customers instead of risking a bump derailing your chain at speed like what happened to me and started me down this rabbit hole in the first place.
