On the side of a gravel road in Spokane Valley

Trying to fix a catastrophic failure in the engine. Along one of the bumps my lock had fallen off the bike and gotten sucked into the brake rotors and engine hub, breaking one spoke, bending another, and bending the brake rotor out. I managed to limp it back out of there after completely disassembling the wheel and waited out until I could pick up some new rotors. I threw in some brake pads as well while I was doing repairs. A brake job all the way to completion in 40 minutes isn’t too bad IMO, and I went ahead and bled them both again too!

Now I simply need to

  1. Pickup some replacement spokes
  2. Pickup or build a wheel truing stand
  3. Get rim tape
  4. Learn to re-lace or re-build a wheel

this will be a really useful skill to have, not only would I be able to build my own custom rims and save a couple hundred bucks, I’ll also be able to maintain them as well, is my hope.

It sucks that everything takes money, but it will be much cheaper than paying someone else to do it for a few hundred dollars.

Super excited to see where this path takes me :3
