Was a really good day today

Did a little biking, met an interesting guy on my adventures, bought some groceries, and went home to install the new freehub, shifter, and derailleur. Managed to get it done in a little over an hour which I was quite excited about. The new freehub makes the old one look like a child, it’s pretty crazy.

Also added to the upgrades list was a bike chain that’s been wax treated instead of lubed with oil, so it’s got no mess to it! I’m glad because I’m tired of my hands and pants being black all the time.

Plus my bike looks so gorgeous!

I ordered the replacement spokes for the rear hub, working on sourcing a wheel truing station that is okay but doesn’t cost $300-$500 so I can learn how to true my wheels too. I also need to get more wax to retreat my chain here soon too

I always used to think about unitaskers and one trick ponies as a useless purchase, but I wanted to talk about chain breakers for a second, it has to be my favorite specialized tool I’ve found in my bike toolkit. It’s so useful for fixing your chain back together again that I made sure I have one in my saddlebag just in case.

Anyway I took my night meds a bit ago and realized I’m probably rambling now, I have some thoughts and a poem I’d like to flesh out, but I should probably heed the siren song of bed
